About
Born February 25 in Woodhaven, NY, Keith comes from an extremely
musical family. "I think every member of my fathers side of
the family played an instrument or sang. My Grandfather owned
a music store for many years and at the age of 5 offered me my very
own Accordion! My dad looked at me, then at the accordion and
then looked at my grandfather and said 'What are you nuts?'.
Upon further consideration, my grandfather proffered a shiny silver
Clarinet for my perusal. Dad looked at the instrument with
satisfaction and I went home with a shiny new toy. I called it
a toy, because I was *5* years old. I had as much interest in
a clarinet as I did in nuclear fission! I did however spend many
unhappy hours learning to play the thing. I can't say I
remember how to play it, but it was my first instrument." Even
though Keith didn't spend a lot of time with his clarinet, he was
extremely adept at singing. He either sang or acted in every
school play from Kindergarten until High School.
At the age of
12, Keith was offered another opportunity to play an instrument.
Keith was brought to a small local music school and was offered 3
instruments to try, a Guitar, a Bass and the Drums. Time was
spent with each of the instruments and basic instruction was given.
At the end of his "Tour" of the instruments, Keith was asked if he
was interested in any of them. Keith was ready to be a
Drummer! That is, of course until his mother heard about
it. "There's no way you're bringing drums in my house!" was
heard for miles around... Keith "decided" to give the Bass
Guitar a shot. Several months were spent being taught how to
play the instrument and some time was even devoted to learning how
to play a regular guitar as well.
"I didn't really know that I wanted to
be a musician until one day at my friend Bernie's house we were
listening to some music and he put a magical new tape in his
boom-box. From the first time I heard it I was hooked. I
knew at that instant that I wanted to be a Bassist. The tape?
"Moving
Pictures", by
Rush.
Keith has played with many bands over the
years, none of which have had any success yet. YET!
Some of the bands names: Prototype,
Type II, Maddax, Onyx Rook, The Fallopian Experiment, Sekond Nature,
Go, Jadestone, Slate, Shame Therapy, LC3, Losing Abby, Alex Bach.
Keith has written 100's of songs over
the years. "As the years pass, I find that my writing style
changes to adapt to whatever's "hot". In the 80's I was
writing Heavy Metal, in the 90's I was writing Pop, and today, well,
I write whatever pops into my head. There's nothing on the
radio today that's particularly inspiring, so I'm left to my own
devices. I hope to write the next big thing! (What?
It could happen!
)
Keith takes nothing for granted, when
the time is right, Keith will be ready!
